Snapshot

Don’t you wish there was a button you could push and capture a picture that you see with your own eyes?  That happened to me at Cokesbury on Sunday.  We were able to weave a message of words and song together this past week.  We had singing, instrumentals, meditation, prayer, etc.  I truly felt all kinds of emotion that was simply just beautiful and breathtaking.  At the very end of our second service, we had a young couple come up to join the church.  The wife was also getting baptized.  Stephen went through the questions we ask everyone who joins our church and then proceeds to baptize the lady.  As Stephen’s voice began to quiver, I looked up and saw his hand on her head and tears streaming down her face with one single light shining between the two of them.  **SNAP** (That was the shutter of my internal camera going off.) That’s one snapshot that I shall cherish with me for a long while.  She got it … she understood the awesomeness of the moment and the power of what she was doing. The whole room was filled with emotion.

This is why we do what we do … this is why we continue to work through the chaos … the technical difficulties … this is why I’m in meetings 4 days a week … sometimes working until 2AM … I push aside the frustrations … the failures … This is why we live Luke 6:38

“Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you”

Ministry is no where near as easy as I once thought many years ago … but I wouldn’t trade it for the world!

Thanks God!
